Yuishinji is located in a residential area in Hiroshima city.
The current main hall was completed in 1991, but before and after that time, Yuishinji continued and continues to be built through its connection with the local community.
One characteristic feature of Yuishinji is that although it is located in a residential area, its outward appearance does not clash with its surroundings. However, what makes Yuishinji “Yuishinji” is the fact that the temple is actively kept open as a community space.
For example, you can often see locals who have stopped by on their way having a pleasant chat on the bench in the “Yuishinji Cafe,” an open space facing the road that can be used freely by anyone.

Yuishinji melts into the local rhythm of life - in the morning haze, people come to put their hands together in quiet prayer, in the early afternoon the bright laughter of children and their parents rings out, and during the school holidays primary school children do their homework at the desks.

It is said that in the present age, the relations between people have become tenuous.
In former Japan, voices of children playing energetically would echo throughout the temple grounds, while their mothers engaged in lively neighbourhood gossip. Grannies and granddads taking a rest in a patch of sunlight would watch the children run around and smile. Just as the sunset was at its most picturesque, dad would come back from work … life was a succession of idyllic days.
It would be no exaggeration to say that such ordinary happiness was a product of communication between families and the community.
I hope that with Yuishinji as the starting point, warm human relationships can be formed like links in a chain.
In addition, at Yuishinji lectures and live concerts are also held for the local community, although such events are irregular. Anyone who is interested may participate freely.
